It was a sunny & warm weekend in winter, so I’ve cycled to Sankeien in Yokohama. It is inside the town, and very easy to access.
Opened in 1906, Sankeien Garden is an expansive 175,000 m2 garden featuring gorgeous ponds, streams, undulating paths, and even many historic buildings. Sankeien Garden was designed and built by Tomitaro Hara, who made his fortune in the Japanese silk trade. In 1953, the garden was donated to the City of Yokohama and restored to its pre-war condition.

It is the perfect time to see Autumn leaves now, so the park was quite crowded, and there was human traffic jam everywhere, quite difficult to take a photo without people in it, but still the garden and the buildings are very elegant. If you enjoy Japanese style gardens, and have chance to visit Yokohama, I would like to recommend this place! By the way, since there is Light Up in the buildings at evening, so there are plenty of people come to visit at night also. You may try!
There are 2 teahouses inside Sankeien. One of them is selling many kinds of Japanese sweet, such as Odango (A Japanese sweet round dumpling made from mochiko (rice flour), eaten off a stick) with several different favors, as cheap as 150yen (USD 1.50) each stick. They taste good! Also, hot tea is served for served for free and free refill!
