Goshikinuma Pond means five colorerd ponds. It is located near the Jododaira area in Fukushima Prefecture. The whole area is full of nature and varieties of trees. At this time of the year, we could see Autumn leaves everywhere. Also, the local stores were selling many local products such as wild mushrooms from these area. The popular Japanese cuisines at the local restaurants were mushroom tempura with soba, or mushroom cooked rice.
This time we decided to take a walk around Goshikinuma Pond, hoping that we could enjoy the most of Autumn leaves, as well as seeing all five colors in the pond.
The whole area were full of typical wetland plants and trees, quiet and peaceful (except for plenty of tourists). The trail was flat, well-maintained and easy to walk. At the entrance, we saw many people taking photos of Autumn leaves, or lining up to take the boats in the pond.
It was already late afternoon after 3PM, we were a little worried that we might not able to finish the trail before dark. Indeed, there were too many photo spots that we walked too slow. We just made it out before dark, but still had to walk more than 30min back to our car, so we had to walk along the car roads in dark early evening. Fortunately, it is tourist area, so there were sidewalks all the time, we even managed to pass by 2 convenience stores.
We did not see the rusty red color, but we did see bright green and turquoise color ponds. The turquoise color was particular beautiful. And, it was particularly nice to visit at sunset time. Also, there were some birds and ducks at the ponds, as well as some fishing people.
